“Not to hurt our humble brethren is our first duty to them, but to stop there is not enough. We have a higher mission—to be of service to them whenever they require it.”
Francis of Assisi

About Us

Rocky Mountain High Dog Rescue Transport is an all-volunteer, Christian organization seeking nonprofit status that focuses on transporting rescued dogs from neighboring states to Colorado rescues, foster homes, and forever homes. We pull shelter dogs on the brink of euthanasia—“Dead Dogs Walking”—and transport them to Colorado, the “land of plenty of love.” We list our rescued dogs on our website, on our Facebook page, and at PetFinder, AdoptAPet, and Rescueme.org.

Our rescue transport is a collaboration between source shelters in other states and destination shelters/rescues in Colorado. We are currently seeking to cultivate additional partnerships with shelters and other transports in Colorado, as well as out-of-state shelters and transports who transport dogs from crowded shelters and rescues. Our transport program is an option for out-of-state shelters that have adoptable dogs who will be euthanized due to lack of space. When we collaborate with a shelter/rescue, we are more than willing to respect that agency’s procedures and requests in order to assist dogs in need.

If you are a shelter in New Mexico, Kansas, Texas, and Oklahoma that would like to partner with us, please contact us on the Contact page. We will call you as quickly as possible, discuss your procedures as well as ours, and send you our Partner Guidelines. Thank you for your interest!

Mission Statement

I discovered the atrocity of puppy mills in 2007. Shortly afterward, I found a group working to shut down Colorado pet stores that sold puppies. This group was working with National Mill Dog Rescue in Peyton, and some of their dogs were to be delivered to Denver Dumb Friends Rescue. At the time I was volunteering at DDFL and greeted the van as it pulled into the DDFL garage on a cloudy Sunday afternoon.
